Important Notice: If you downloaded Palm Acrobat Reader from this site prior to 6/5/2002 0850 there is a time limit on the software. Unknown to us this was the public beta version software. The correct software with no time limit has been added. This means you must delete the Acrobat Reader program from your palm and download the new version. The old version will not work. This whole event came as a surprise to the entire Life Flight Crew. If you have questions or problems please contact Steve Lehmann at steve@osflifeflight.net.

Useful Medical Palm Programs (These programs run independently of Acrobat Reader)
Palm EKG (19 kb)
Shows EKG strip of almost all types of arrhythmias, including specific data for each such as PR interval, P waves, Rate, ect.

Oxygen Tank Calculator (6 kb) (.zip file)
Calculates the amount of time at a given flow rate with a given pressure left in your tank will last. Allows you to choose between D, E, M, and H cylinders.

Ambulance Times (9 kb)
Allows you to tap on the 'dispatch', 'arrive', 'enroute to hosptial' key which inserts the current time. Excellent for EMTs, Paramedics, and Flight Programs. Many of the Life Flight crew use this program. Buttons can be renamed so they are applicable to your service type, for example change 'Enroute' to 'Life Off', and so on.

Infusi Calc (45 kb) (.zip file must be installed on your computer)
Allows you to create your own database of commonly used drips and concentrations. Helps to quickly calculate a multitude of different outcomes such as mcg/kg/min, ect.

ABG Pro (19 kb)
Assists interpreting ABG results.

Drips (18 kb) (.zip file must be installed on your computer)
IV drip calculator.

Med Calc
(93 kb) (.zip file must be installed on your computer)
Useful program with multiple calculations including GCS, Anion Gap (plasma or urine), Apgar Score, Body Mass Index, Body Surface Area, Cardiac Output (Fick), approximately 70 calculations in all.

Palm Pilot Applications
Adobe Acrobat Reader Palm Desktop Software (6.35 MB)
Full program which converts Adobe Acrobat files to Palm Pilot version files. You need this file only if you are going to download the actual files and put them on your palm pilot at home. If you only plan to beam files from one palm to another you only need the 2 files below.

You Must have the following file if you do not want to download the Adobe Acrobat Reader Palm Desktop Software.
For help with installing the following files see "Downloading Directions."

Palm File for Adobe Acrobat Reader (Acrobat_Reader.PRC 336 kb)
With this file you can read and beam/receive files from others.

Downloading Directions
The files on this page, except for the Adobe Acrobat Reader Palm Desktop Software, are ready to go palm files. This means you only need to download them on to your computer, place them in a folder.

  1. Go into your computers 'Palm Desktop' software which comes with your palm pilot, select 'Install'.
  2. Click on the button 'Add', find where you saved your downloaded files.
  3. Click 'Open' after you have highlighted the correct file. You may select all of your files you want to add to your palm pilot before you 'Hot Sync'.
  4. After you have selected all the files you want to install click 'Done'.
  5. Follow your procedure for 'Hot Sync'ing you Palm Pilot. Your files should now be on your Palm Pilot.
  6. To view your files, click on the 'Acrobat Reader' icon which looks similar to this.

Beaming The Acrobat Reader Application

  1. Click with your stylet on the upper left hand corner of your screen, usually where the clock is.
  2. From this menu select 'Beam....' with your stylet.
  3. If the person receiving files does not have Acrobat Reader on their Palm Pilot you must first send them the file labeled 'Acrobat Reader'.
  4. To beam this file, highlight the file with your stylet. Then click on 'Beam'.
  5. Align your Palm Pilot infra-red ports approximately 4"-6" apart. Once complete the receiver will need to click 'Ok' to accept the file.

Beaming Acrobat Palm Documents

  1. Click on the 'Acrobat Reader' application icon.
  2. Select the file you wish to beam by clicking on the box on the left hand side of the file. Place a check in the box by tapping the box.
  3. You may only select one file to beam at a time.
  4. Once your file is selected, click on the button 'Beam'.
  5. Align your Palm Pilot infra-red ports approximately 4"-6" apart. Once complete the receiver will need to click 'Ok' to accept the file.
  6. Select another file and follow the same directions if you wish to send more than one file.
