New Hangar for OSF Saint
Anthony Lifeline, OSF Saint Francis Life Flight and OSF
Aviation, LLC
OSF HealthCare has brought
together the life saving services of Lifeline (based in Rockford
at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Life Flight (based in
Peoria at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center) and OSF Aviation
(based in Peoria) at this new facility located near the Greater
Peoria
Regional Airport. The construction of this new aeromedical operations facility began in the Fall of 2006 and
was completed in the Summer of 2007. It is the base for the Life
Flight crew members and the OSF Aviation staff and operations,
which include the aviation support for both Lifeline and Life
Flight.
Lifeline was introduced to the
Rockford area in 1981 as the first hospital-based flight program
in Illinois and serves 11 counties. Life Flight has served
Peoria and the surrounding region since 1984 and has become the
busiest helicopter service in Illinois. Both programs continue
to serve their respective areas.
OSF Aviation was established in
January 2002 to provide aviation support services to both
Lifeline and Life Flight. OSF Aviation owns and operates four
Bell 230 helicopters under its own air carrier certificate, and
employs the pilots and aircraft maintenance technicians that
serve our helicopter programs. |
